Getting started

You need one thing to begin: a website you control. Everything else can be added later, and the product works — with less data — until you do.

1. Create your organisation

Sign up with an email address, a mobile number, or a Google account, then create an organisation. Each organisation gets its own isolated database schema, so if you run more than one business their data never shares a table.

2. Add your site

Enter your domain — a full URL is fine, we normalise it. Tell us in one line what the business does; that single sentence is what the keyword suggestions and the brand voice are both built from, so it is worth writing properly.

Approval gating is set here, and it defaults to on. Nothing is published to your site until you have seen it. You can change this later, per change type — how approval gating works covers all four of them.

3. Connect your accounts

Search Console, LinkedIn and a sending address each have a step in the wizard. Every one of them is optional — skip it, finish setting up, and come back from Settings later. Where a step is not available on your deployment yet it says so plainly rather than pretending to connect.

Search Console is the one worth doing before you sit down, because it depends on which Google account already has your site. Connecting Google walks through choosing the account, verifying a site nobody owns yet, and picking the Analytics property afterwards.

4. Choose your keywords

We suggest a starting list built from what you told us you sell and where your customers are. The first twelve arrive already selected; add your own, remove any that are wrong, and change the list whenever you like. Once Search Console is connected the suggestions come from your real impressions instead.

5. Set your brand voice

Pick a tone and a point of view, list any words to avoid and anything that should always be mentioned — a guarantee, a certification, a delivery promise. A live sample updates as you change the settings, so you can read the result rather than guess at it. This is what every piece of content is written against.

If you stop halfway

Setup remembers where you were, on the server rather than in your browser. Close the tab, come back on a different machine next week, sign in, and you resume on the step you left. A banner in the app shows what is still outstanding.
