How much does SEO cost in India in 2026?
Most quotes you will get for SEO in India sit between ₹15,000 and ₹1,20,000 a month, and the range says more about the seller’s overheads than about what you receive. Here is what each band actually buys, and the two questions that separate a good retainer from an expensive one.
What agencies charge
A full-service agency in Hyderabad or Bengaluru typically quotes ₹35,000 to ₹75,000 a month for a single site, on a six-month minimum. That usually buys around four articles, a monthly technical review and a reporting call.
Two things are worth checking before you sign, and both are commonly excluded from the headline number. The first is who actually writes the content — a retainer quoted by a strategist is often delivered by a junior or a subcontractor. The second is whether the tools are included: rank tracking, crawling and keyword data are billed to somebody, and if it is not the agency it will be you.
What freelancers charge
₹15,000 to ₹30,000 a month is normal for an experienced freelancer, and the quality range is wider here than anywhere else in this market. The good ones are excellent value; the difficulty is that you need to already know what good looks like in order to tell.
Ask for the last three sites they worked on and look them up yourself. Not the case studies — the live sites. Rankings are public, and a freelancer whose work you can verify in ten minutes is telling you something a case study cannot.
What software costs
Tooling alone — rank tracking, a crawler, keyword research — runs $100 to $400 a month before anybody does any work with it. That is the floor under every quote above, and it is why the cheapest retainers tend to quietly drop the tools rather than the margin.
Software that does the work rather than reporting on it sits in a different bracket, because it is replacing labour and not just informing it. AugRank starts at ₹9,999 a month with the data costs included.
Which is right for you
If you have one site and a clear idea of what you want written, a freelancer is usually the best value and the least overhead. If you have several sites, or nobody in-house who can brief and review content, the coordination is the actual work and an agency or a tool earns its money there.
Whichever you choose, insist on seeing what changed and why. A monthly report showing traffic going up is not the same as a record of what was published, on which page, for which search. The first is a graph; the second is something you can audit.
